If you live in Dubai, chances are you travel more than most people. Maybe it's a weekend in Oman or the Maldives, a quick trip back home to see family, or the summer exodus when half the city seems to disappear for July and August. Whatever the reason, your hair goes wherever you go, and it doesn't always handle the trip well.
I'm the first to be on the road constantly, which is exactly why I created travel-size formats of our natural hair products. It was essential for me to have quality care even far from home, and above all, to finally say goodbye to bulky bottles and hotel products that do more harm than good.
Why hotel hair products work against you
I know the temptation. You're packing light, the little bottles are right there in the bathroom, and it feels like one less thing to think about. But here's the problem: those generic options don't suit your specific hair needs.
Hotel shampoos and conditioners are often formulated with harsh ingredients like SLS or silicones, designed to be cheap and universal, not to take care of your hair. Using them risks weakening your hair and undoing the benefits of your usual routine. And if you're already dealing with hair that's adjusted to Dubai's hard water and dry air, switching to an aggressive, one-size-fits-all formula for a week is the last thing it needs.
By bringing products from your own routine, you ensure continuity, even on the move, and avoid the unpleasant surprise of coming home with hair that feels like it needs a full week to recover from your holiday.
The 100ml rule, and why it's actually a good thing
If you've flown out of Dubai International even once, you know the drill: liquids in carry-on luggage need to fit in containers of 100ml or less. For most people, that means leaving favorite products at home or transferring them into flimsy travel bottles that leak all over your toiletry bag.
This is exactly why we created proper 100ml and 50ml travel formats of our bestsellers, cabin-friendly by design, no decanting required, no leaks, and no compromise on what's actually inside the bottle.
💡 Frequent flyer tip
Keep a dedicated travel pouch permanently packed with your travel-size routine. If you're someone who books a trip on a Tuesday and flies on Thursday, having your hair essentials ready to grab, rather than scrambling to find and decant products, removes one more thing from your pre-trip checklist.
Your travel kit
Here's exactly what's in my bag, every time, and why each piece earns its place.
1. Shampoo & Conditioner Duo
Take your natural hair care routine with you on a romantic weekend or a trip with the whole family, thanks to our cabin-size Travel Kit. Suitable for all hair types, our 100ml shampoo and conditioner, with their subtle verbena scent, are sure to please everyone in the family, which means less luggage and fewer products to juggle.
2. Serum Sublime
Whether for its scent or its effectiveness, our Sublime Serum is impossible to leave behind. It's the bestseller that gives you shiny, moisturized hair wherever you land, our customers will back me up on that.
At 50ml, it completes your routine and adds the final touch of shine and protection your hair needs after a day of travel, sun, or air conditioning. One pump is all it takes, and a single bottle lasts a long time, perfect for keeping permanently in your travel pouch. With its non-greasy finish, it works on all hair types (and yes, it doubles nicely for beard stubble too).
Climate shock: when your hair lands somewhere new
Here's something specific to traveling out of Dubai that's worth thinking about: your hair has spent weeks or months adapting to a very particular environment : extreme heat, constant air conditioning, and notably hard water. When you land somewhere completely different, your hair experiences its own kind of jet lag.
🌴 Heading somewhere humid: Bali, Thailand, the Maldives, hair that's adjusted to Dubai's dry AC can suddenly frizz more than usual as it absorbs ambient moisture it's not used to. Your serum become even more useful here, helping the hair hold its shape rather than expand unpredictably.
❄️ Heading somewhere cold and dry: Europe in winter, for example, the combination of indoor heating and cold outdoor air can be just as dehydrating as Dubai's climate, sometimes more. Don't assume your hair gets a "break" from dryness just because you've left the heat behind. Keep the leave-in and serum in your daily routine.
💧 Different water, different feel: softer water in many destinations can actually make your hair feel "too soft" or limp at first, especially if it's been compensating for Dubai's hard water. This isn't a problem, just an adjustment, your usual products will recalibrate things within a day or two.
Coming back to Dubai: readjusting your routine
The other side of travel that nobody talks about: coming home. After a week or two somewhere with softer water and different humidity, stepping back into Dubai's hard water and dry heat can feel like a small shock to your hair all over again.
If your hair feels rough or coated within the first day or two of being back, that's the hard water minerals reintroducing themselves. A gentle scalp and hair scrub in your first wash back home helps your hair transition smoothly, and your hydrating mask should go back into rotation immediately, not after you "notice" dryness creeping back in.
✈️ The long-haul flight trick
Cabin air on long-haul flights, especially out of DXB, one of the busiest long-haul hubs in the world, is even drier than Dubai's air conditioning. Apply a few drops of serum or leave-in before boarding and again mid-flight. It takes seconds and makes a noticeable difference to how your hair feels on arrival, whether you're flying for 3 hours or 14.
"I travel constantly, and for years I either over-packed or gave up and used whatever was in the hotel bathroom, and always regretted it by day three. Building a permanent travel kit changed that completely. Now my hair gets the same care in a hotel in Salalah as it does at home in Dubai, and that consistency makes all the difference."

Frequently asked questions about traveling with hair care
Can I bring these travel-size products in my carry-on from Dubai International?
Yes. Our travel sizes are 100ml or under, which fits within the standard cabin baggage liquid allowance from DXB and most international airports, typically containers of 100ml/3.4oz or less, placed in a clear resealable bag. As always, double-check current requirements with your airline before flying, since rules can vary slightly by destination and occasionally change.
Do I need different products depending on where I'm traveling to?
Not necessarily different products, but you may want to lean on certain ones more depending on the climate. Traveling to a humid destination? Your serum will help manage extra frizz.
How do I deal with different water quality when staying in hotels?
Water hardness varies a lot by destination, and your hair may feel different within the first day or two of arrival, sometimes softer, sometimes rougher, depending on whether the local water is harder or softer than Dubai's. This is temporary. Stick with your usual shampoo and conditioner rather than switching to hotel products, and your hair will settle into the new water within a couple of washes. If you notice unusual dryness, your serum can bridge the gap.
How long does a travel-size kit last for a typical trip?
For a week-long trip with daily or every-other-day washing, the 100ml shampoo and conditioner duo comfortably covers one person, and the 50ml serum will easily last well beyond a single trip, they're designed to be reused across multiple journeys before running out. That's part of the appeal: pack the kit once, and it's ready to go again for your next trip with little or no top-up needed.
My hair feels different when I come back to Dubai after a trip, is that normal?
Completely normal. Your hair adapts to whatever water and climate it's exposed to, and Dubai's combination of hard water and dry heat is distinctive enough that returning to it after time away can feel like a small reset. If your hair feels rough or coated in the days after coming home, a gentle scalp and hair scrub in your first wash back helps clear any new mineral build-up, and reintroducing your hydrating mask right away, rather than waiting until dryness becomes noticeable, keeps the transition smooth.
Wherever you're headed next, your hair routine should come with you. Safe travels. 🌿
With love,
